Best Valentine’s Day Breakfast Scones

350g Self-raising flour (Extra for dusting)
1 teaspoon Baking powder
A pinch Salt
85g Butter
45 g Golden Caster Sugar
3/4 Cup of Milk
1 Egg (for egg wash)
Directions
- Pre-heat the oven to 220°C/200°C fan/gas 7.
- Sift Self-rising flour, baking powder and salt into a bowl.
- Add sugar and mix together
- Cut Butter into small cubes and rub into the flour until it looks like breadcrumbs.
- Make a well in the dry mix and add milk
- Mix to form a dough
- Dust surface light with flour. Roll out to about 2cm thick.
- Cut out Scones with a 7cm heart cutter.
- Combine leftover dough and cut more Scones.
- Place in a pastry tray lined with parchment paper
- Egg wash the scones and bake for 15 minutes
- Bake for 15 minutes.
- When ready, Transfer to a wire cooling rack.
- Cut out in the middle with a large round piping nozzle
- Fill scones with strawberry jam. Dust with icing sugar
